Hi %FIRSTNAME%,

Happy 4th week of November (I started this message in October...)! If you've been to my studio for the past—oh, 3 months or more—you know that I've been working like a madwoman on my new website/scheduling app, and I'm happy to announce that it's up and functioning!

I'm already hearing great feedback about how easy the new scheduling app is to use, which is a big reason for the switch. I'm especially excited about the all-in-one features: it's a website, a scheduling app, a newsletter (right here, what you're reading!), a blog, and more! Thank you for your patience with this work in progress—I'm still tweaking, exploring and test-driving all the features, and welcome all feedback regarding typos, content, issues encountered while using the schedule, etc.

A few things to note:

  • November—MOVE-ember—is my birthday month!

    My gift to all, is that my Restorative Flow classes are now offered as Pay What You Can. I believe every body should have access to health and wellness services, including movement classes. If I could only teach one class ever again, restorative exercise would be it, and I would make it as accessible as I possibly could, to everyone I possible could. It's a radical, paradigm-shifting, wholly accessible, sustainable movement perspective that's applicable (I'd argue essential) to every movement practice—Pilates, yoga, lifting, running, cycling, life itself. Yes, it's that big of a deal.

    I'm a certified Restorative Exercise Specialist with Katy Bowman's Nutritious Movement program, which is as close to an owner's manual for the body as one can get, in my not-so-humble opinion. If exercises such as squats, pushups, the Pilates Hundred, or a yoga Warrior pose are macronutrients, then Nutritious Movements/restorative exercises are the equally important but often missed micro-nutrients (i.e: joints of the feet, ankles, hands and wrist, shoulders, pelvis, spine), that specifically address stiffness, weakness, aches and pains, in ways that most of us (even movement teachers) have never learned, if ever experienced before. Equipped with this knowledge, we can truly begin to restore the function of our forgotten parts, not just during our workouts, but throughout our lives, where it really matters.

    If you have a package of mat classes, you may use a session from that, or simply schedule the restorative as a separate, single class, and pay what you can. Please, bring a friend or two!

  • Please note expiration dates and cancellation policies on sessions and packages. This is not a new policy, I'm simply bringing awareness to it. Expiration dates/cancellation times are firm, except in the event of an emergency.
    Intro packs have a 2 week exp. date, from date of first use
    5 packs have a 2 month exp. date
    10 packs have a 3 month exp. date
    Private/semi-private sessions have a 24 hour cancellation policy
    Small group classes have a 12 hour cancellation policy

    I put expiration dates on my packages because I want you to use them and benefit from the work, not hoard them (I guarantee you, that you will not get better at Pilates, or movement, period, by not practicing). My 10 pack is not the "best deal," but rather, an incentive to commit to, and honor your movement practice by coming in more than once a week. If that is not possible, I also offer 5 pack and single session options.

  • I have intentionally divided my Pilates reformer-tower classes into levels. I'm doing my small part to preserve the history, intention, and integrity of the Pilates method. I teach Pilates in the spirit of the OG himself, Joseph Pilates, following his original exercises, order and foundational principles, within a contemporary restorative context. If you are new to Pilates at my studio, or if you have an active injury or condition that's inhibiting your movement, please start with Strong Foundations reformer-tower classes, Restorative Flow classes, or private sessions. As you become familiar and proficient with the principles and foundational exercises, you can register for Intermediate classes, where we continue to build on those concepts. Intermediate and Advanced classes require prior permission.

  • All packages now come with with guest passes! 5 packs include 1 guest pass, and 10 packs include 2 guest passes. Guests must be new to my studio, and passes cannot be carried over/accumulated. If you're bringing a new student to a reformer/tower class, please register for a Strong Foundations class (not Intermediate/Advanced).

  • You may now share your packages! Upon purchase, you will see an option to add another person to your package—please use this wonderful feature! Even if you don't think you'll share your package, I still encourage students to enter a name at the time of purchase, as it cannot be done after purchase (and this name will be used for anyone you want to share your package with). If you're sharing a reformer package with a new reformer-tower student, please direct them to the Strong Foundations classes (not Intermediate/Advanced classes).

  • I've added two early morning Pilates Mat classes to the schedule! Rise before the sun and join me at 6:30 am on Wednesday and Friday mornings, to practice the original Pilates Mat exercises and order. Mat work is the Alpha and the Omega of the entire Pilates system: both an assessment and the ultimate goal of all the other apparatus. My studio is calm and peaceful in the shadowy early hours—bring a cup of coffee and your coziest clothes to move in, and start your day with a generous dose of movement. All levels welcome!
